Oxford University Innovation wanted its annual Impact Report to work as a digital experience rather than simply a PDF placed online. The site needed to bring together stories, data and multimedia in a way that felt engaging while remaining clear, accessible and fast.

Turning an annual report into something people can actually explore.
Impact reports have an awkward job to do. They contain a lot of information, serve several audiences and still need to feel coherent from beginning to end.
The website also had to give the internal team straightforward editorial control and provide useful data about how visitors were interacting with the report – particularly whether they were downloading the full PDF version.
What we changed
We designed and built a custom WordPress theme specifically for the report, using a modular system that could move comfortably between long-form stories, statistics, imagery and supporting content.
The admin area was structured so the OUI team could make their own revisions without needing a developer for routine changes. We handled the initial content population and configuration, then gave the team a clean system they could continue to use.
We also built a lightweight download tracker for the PDF report, providing a simple measure of an important user action without adding unnecessary complexity.
